The Origins and History of R&B Music
Rhythm and Blues (R&B) is a term used to depict the blues-affected type of music which has been mostly performed by African-Americans since the end of the 1930s. The term 'Rhythm and Blues' was first brought into the American vocabulary in the last part of the 1940s: the name's origin point was created for use as a marketing term by Billboard magazine.
In 1949, then, at that point Billboard magazine correspondent Jerry Wexler (who later proceeded to turn into a compelling music producer) made the term for Billboard to assign perky well known music performed by African American craftsmen that combined Blues and Jazz.
