About Elijah Sax & DJ

Elijah Sax & DJ is a highly experienced Jazz and Pop Saxophonist, performing regularly as a solo artist and in several professional bands. Elijah began playing Sax at the age of 12, and was initially classically trained, achieving Grade 8 after six years. He furthered his studies at Canterbury Christ Church University. Whilst attending, he progressively moved away from his classical roots to Jazz studies, where Elijah flourished as a respected performer and composer.

Since graduating with first-class honours in Music majoring in Jazz Performance and Composition, Elijah has made a name for himself as a go-to session musician and solo performer, as well as being part of many successful bands, performing at many festivals and events across Europe. Since 2016, Elijah has been playing sax with Ben Russell and The Charmers, an up and coming Kent-based Roots/Reggae band for a few years now.

The band has played at many prestigious venues such as O2 Academy Islington and The Garage, along with festivals like Glastonbury, Boomtown and Belgium Roots Reggae Festival. They have just recorded an album, ‘Ocean’ and this has been featured on Radio1 Xtra. In May 2019, Elijah joined Kent-based Jazz Funk band Mad Yella.

Playing Hideaway jazz club, Margate Soul Festival and Rye Jazz Festival the band has attracted interest from Soul pioneers such as Roy Ayers and Tony Momrelle (Incognito) and Jazz phenom Soweto Kinch. The band is in the process of recording its debut album. Recently Steve Nichol of Loose Ends fame approached Elijah to join him on his new tour. Since joining Elijah has played at Margate Soul Festival and Pizza Express Live, Holborn and will be playing London Jazz Festival later this year.

Elijah is also a passionate solo performer and this comes across in his lively and energetic performances. With a repertoire of over 150+ songs, covering many genres from Pop and Motown classics to jazz and Ibiza House styles, Elijah prides himself on his ability to handpick the ultimate setlist for every event. Elijah plays with professionally recorded and arranged backing tracks through state-of-the-art sound equipment as well as alongside esteemed DJs.

As a soloist, he can easily tailor his performance to his client's specific tastes and requirements, allowing them to highlight or deselect any tracks from his repertoire. He can also offer the opportunity to request a few songs for him to learn especially in advance. Elijah performs everything from memory and uses a wireless, radio microphone where needed. This enables him to move around the venue as he wishes, creating the perfect atmosphere everywhere he goes.

A solo saxophone performance is a terrific way to add that extra sparkle to your wedding day, party or any other event. It's unique, classy and fun, and goes a long way towards creating that 'no-expenses-spared' feel without overloading the budget. Solo saxophone music is ideal for wedding ceremonies as well as light entertainment for drinks and dining and is certain to be a real highlight of the day.

Elijah is constantly seeking opportunities to bring his charismatic sound and solo brand of entertainment to a wider audience, striving to leave his audience on an unforgettable high. He is able to be booked for Weddings, Private Parties and Corporate Events, as well as Studio and Session.

What kind of music does a saxophonist play?

A saxophonist can play different types of music, from jazz to pop music. Saxophonists often offer a wide repertoire of music pieces, but it is always good to inquire about what types of music a saxophonist can play.

Should sound be provided?

It is important to inquire whether the saxophonist needs special amplification or microphones and whether these should be provided. In many cases the saxophonist can also bring this himself or use the technology of a DJ.

How is the technology arranged?

Each artist has a technical rider that is shared in advance to ensure requirements can be met. This states exactly what the famous artist needs to perform. Most acts bring their own other than those in our Famous Section.

Is the artist available?

It is important to carefully check whether the well-known artist is available on the indicated date. We will check the availability for you and will send you a proposal based on this. If we indicate that the artist is available, the option will also be fixed. Otherwise it will be clearly indicated.

What is a rider?

A rider is a document in which the wishes and requirements of an artist are recorded. Well-known artists in particular often have a number of wishes, such as their own dressing room, a certain number of bottles of drinks, a meal and so on. In addition to this 'hospitality rider', artists often also have a 'technical rider'. This rider states, for example, which speakers, inputs and monitors are desired. In many cases, the artist's sound engineer takes this himself. He can also plug into your available sound set. On the technical rider you can see whether your Production Kit & Audio meets the artist's requirements. If you don't understand this. No problem, we are happy to help you with this!

How is the price determined?

The desired duration of the performance
Travel time and travel costs
Any lighting and/or sound technology required
Any production kit required
Any waiting and preparation time
The group size
Familiarity of the act
Booking Fees

Ultimately, every party is unique. Therefore, we are happy to discuss your requirements in advance and can make an appropriate tailor-made proposal.
